In 2024, I posted in about my BristolCon experience in the first of their two-day experiences. For those who don't know, BristolCon is a scifi/fantasy book convention filled with events like panels, small group sessions, informal little gatherings, D&D sessions, and so many many many market stalls. Mostly books, but there are other things. I decided I wanted to take a year's break (and then I ended up writing and helping record an audio play). But this year, I decided to go back. And while I would've gone if I hadn't been incorporated into any events, I've ended up doing two things on Saturday, 24 October, the first day of BristolCon.
- SGS Room 2 (Room 6), 13:00 PM: Writing Based on Feedback. This is a small group session where I'll be talking about the experience and general doing of the editing process, and how that impacts your story. I'm drafting a powerpoint as we speak in case there's a monitor to feed to that people won't need to crane round like a Japanese yokai to see. Otherwise, it'll be very much done on the fly.
- Panel Room 1, 17:00 PM: Why Didn't We Think Of That? TBH I've completely forgotten what this panel was supposed to be about, but I've got half an idea. I do know that our panel is in the room that has livestreams to YouTube happening each year since 2021.
As for Sunday, I'm not booked to be on or doing anything, so I'm going to be haunting the stalls and/or seeing , when I'm not out in the world due to the necessity of eating. That'll be interesting on Saturday, that's for certain. Picnicking supplies are likely to be required.
I'm hoping to run into friends at the event, and also hoping to enjoy myself more fully than I did last year when I was getting a bit fatigued. Also, I will absolutely be coming back with at least a few books. There's no way I won't be, it's an impossibility.
If you're going, see you there!
